Typical of growing siblings, Danny (Jonah Bobo) and his older brother Walter (Josh Hutcherson) have different interests and simply did not get along. One afternoon, Danny accidentally stumbles upon an old wind-up board game hidden underneath the basement staircase which magically transports their house into the outer reaches of space. Now, Danny & Walter must learn to work together to survive the many challenges the game hurls their way, including a meteor shower, a deranged robot, and flesh-eating aliens. Their only chance to get back home is to reach the mysterious black planet and complete the game.
