It's 22 years later, and Norman Bates (Perkins) is coming home, having been declared sane by Dr. Bill Raymond (Loggia), but Marion Crane's sister, Lila Loomis (Miles), doesn't believe it. Perkins and Miles recreate their roles from Alfred Hitchcock's classic shower shocker, as Norman's return and the arrival of Mary Samuels (Tilly) at the Bates Motel trigger a new wave of brutal killings. Holland and director Richard Franklin, who was invited by Hitchcock as a guest observer on the set of Topaz, pay affectionate homage to the original film's blend of horror and black humor.
