In this book, 10 ordinary women talk about the experience of losing their husbands, how they coped with grief, and how they have rebuilt their lives. These women are from dissimilar backgrounds and were widowed under different circumstances. Some of them lost their husbands while still young while others suffered the demise of a lifelong partner; one had to help her children overcome the loss of their father; another was widowed after enduring a long but unhappy relationship. In the case of each widow, courage, imagination, and common sense helped her to survive and move forward. Not aimed at counselors, this book speaks directly to the bereaved.
