Sofia Mantega used to be one of the New Mutants, students at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. That was her life before M-Day took her powers, along with those of almost all of the world's mutants. Now, she lives humbly and works at a small diner. But a shadowy group of heroes, defying the SRA and working outside the law, have been keeping an eye on her. They think that she still has the desire to be a hero, even if she doesn't have the powers. And they think she has what it takes to be one of... The New Warriors.
