D.O.A.

D.O.A is the story of a washed up English College Professor, Dexter Cornell (Dennis Quaid) who finds the people around him who are close to him have been murdered. It all began with Nick Lang (Robert Knepper) who Dexter passed along a manuscript to read. Nick ends up dead only to have Nick traced back to an affair with his wife. One by one a new murder leads back to Dexter himself. However now, Dexter has become the prime suspect and also prime victim. Someone has just slipped something deadly into Dexter’s drink and poisoned him. Now Dexter has only 24 hours to find out who and how to stop it. Along the way, Dexter takes up a partnership with one of his students, Sydney Fuller (Meg Ryan) who helps him deal with his search in more ways than one.



Dexter Cornell, an English Professor becomes embroiled in a series of murders involving people around him. Dexter has good reason to want to find the murderer but hasn't much time. He finds help and comfort from one of his student, Sydney Fuller.

Dexter Cornell è un affermato docente di letteratura e riceve, in lettura, la bozza di un romanzo scritto da un suo allievo. Il testo è ben scritto ed interessante. Qualche giorno dopo, lo studente muore cadendo dal tetto dell'Università : omicidio o suicidio ? Il giorno dopo il professore si sente male e scopre di essere stato avvelenato con un veleno con un veleno che uccide lentamente : gli restano ventiquattro ore di vita per scoprire chi ha voluto la sua morte, non riesce a rendersene conto. Con l'aiuto di Sydney Fuller, una sua allieva, si mette ad indagare, ma sembra esserci una maledizione sopra di lui: diverse persone perdono la vita, accidentalmente o meno, e tutto sembra ricollegarsi alle sue vicissitudini. Alla fine, stremato ed in fin di vita, si reca al comando di polizia, dove racconta questa assurda storia e dove quasi non è creduto ; ma il colpevole viene scoperto : è Hal Petersham, il suo assistente, geloso ed invidioso del suo successo, che si è impadronito del romanzo dell'allievo per pubblicarlo a proprio nome, eliminando tutti quelli che sono a conoscenza della verità.

SYNOPSIS

Dexter Cornell (Dennis Quaid) teaches English at a Texas College and his class-room lectures consist of his trying to stay above his own sarcasm and clear contempt for the youngsters he instructs. Once a promising novelist himself Dex churned out four books when he was married to his soon-to-be ex-wife Gail (Jane Kaczmarek) a sweet nurturing woman who has pushed Dex away because there is no more real bond between them. During this Christmas season Dex tells his friend and colleague Hal Petersham (Daniel Stern) about his ability to hold on to his tenure even though he hasnt published a book for a long time and as they say in Academe its either publish or perish. A very bright student Nick Lang (Robert Knepper) has given Dex his novel to read and Dex has put the young annoyingly intelligent student off partly because he isnt producing any writing himself. Hal thanks Dex for his help in outlining and structuring a novel that Hal needs to keep his professorship and during a drink to celebrate Lang falls off the roof and slams into the window before hitting the pavement below. In the aftermath Dex decides to actually read the novel he promised Lang he would read as some acknowledgement to the young mans ambition. Gail has served Dex his divorce papers and with all the seasonal angst Dex takes off for an evening of drinking to forget about his failed marriage, and the shock of a suicidal student when he meets up with Sydney Fuller (Meg Ryan) a pretty admiring student and the two spend the evening sampling many cocktails. The next day Dex has a stomach ache and believes it may be the result of a night of drinking and a case of the flu, but when he consults his doctor and realizes he has been given poison that will kill him in 24 hours and is compelled to track down the murderer before he dies.

How about you give a real Synopsis so those of us who's cable goes out at the last 10 mins of the movie know what happen!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst Synopsis ever. What is the purpose of the "Warning! this synopsis may contain spoilers" ?
