A team of researchers head into the jungles of Borneo to search for a flower that can extend life but only blooms every seven years. Soon they encounter a giant anaconda which kills one of their teammates (Nicholas Gonzalez). The team panics and wants to head back but are urged on by their greedy head scientist (Matthew Marsden). After encountering a second snake they realize that their expedition coincides with the mating season. Most of the team tries to escape the jungle with the help of their guide (Johny Messner) but are betrayed by the increasingly desperate Marsden who has discovered evidence that the Blood Orchid is part of the snakes' food chain and must be close. He steals their homemade raft and travels on alone. The remaining members of the team travel through th jungle to head him off and encounter more giant snakes along the way. They finally discover the flower growing on the side of a cliff over the pit in which the anacondas mating is taking place. After narrowly escaping Marsden, who ends up in the pit of snakes, the team is forced to cause the side of the cliff to collapse. The Blood Orchid ends up buried along with the giant anacondas it helped to create.
