Baby Boy

Jody (Tyrese Gibson) is a black man living at home with his mother. He has children and is learning to survive in LA. His mother's boyfriend, Melvin (Ving Rhames), acts as a father figure and attempts to teach young Jody how to survive. In a world that has not changed much since Melvin was his age, he tries to show him about the learning phases of compassion and forgiveness, as well as the ability to deal with the stresses of other people. Meanwhile, his mother's former lover and ex-con, Rodney (Snoop Dogg), is determined to teach Jody the hard parts of life and how to stay alive, as well as what not to do. His counter-character portrayal shows extreme differences to his Mother's current boyfriend, and dramatizes the differences in her choice of life partners. Jody searches for work on the street with his friends, and a means of income in order to support himself and his children in the ghetto.
