The Hand That Rocks The Cradle

While pregnant with her 2nd child, Claire Bartel (Annabella Sciorra) is molested by her obstetrician, Dr. Mott (John de Lancie). Claire and her husband decide to pursue the matter legally. Once they do, other women start stepping forward. Dr. Mott kills himself leaving his pregnant widow. Mrs. Mott (Rebecca de Mornay) miscarries and blames Claire, the first one to accuse her husband, for her problems. She vows revenge. Six months later she arranges a meeting with Claire using the name of Peyton Flanders. She gets Claire to hire her as nanny. Peyton immediately starts to sabotage Claire. She gives the baby Claire’s earring back then saves him from choking on it. She steals a document that Claire’s husband Michael (Matt McCoy) needed which gets blamed on Claire. Claire’s friend, Marlene (Julianne Moore), figures out who Peyton really is, but Peyton kills her before she can tell Claire. Then, after seriously injuring Michael, Peyton sets her eyes on her final showdown with Claire.
