Physical therapist Leslie (Queen Latifah is an avid basketball fan. She has a sister named Morgan (Paula Patton) who is a gold digger and is all about marrying a man to obtain wealth. One night Leslie meets Scott McKnight (Common), a player on her favorite basketball team. She falls for him but he gets lured in by Morgan. After Scott is hurt playing basketball Morgan convinces Leslie to help him get back to playing quality. When it seems he is not getting well enough to play again Morgan leaves him. Leslie continues to work and nurse him back to health, while at the same time falling head over heels for him. The feeling is mutual, and when Morgan comes back after she hears Scott is all well again he has to choose between a woman who has his heart or a woman who looks the part.
