The Longshots

Curtis Brown (Ice Cube) hasn't caught a break since his days of high school football stardom. He's raising his eleven year old niece, Jasmine (KeKe Palmer), but she has a nose for trouble herself, and he decides to redirect some of her energy into sports. Jasmine turns out to have a surprising talent for football, and Curtis urges her to try out for the local team: The Minden Browns. Soon the little girl's amazing gift propels her to team quarterback. She even impresses the skeptical team coach (Matt Craven). When the coach gets sick, Curtis is on hand to take over leading the team. Curtis begins to feel a purpose again, and soon the whole town of Minden, Illinois, finds itself cheering for this unusual junior team as they make their way to the Pop Warner Superbowl.
