Plot

Curley Fletcher's poems have been passed down through generations of cowboys, recited around campfires, learned and relearned. Fletcher wrote for the lovers of the great open spaces--the mountains, valleys, and deserts that form the Empire of the West. Carmen William Curley Fletcher was born in San Francisco in 1892 and grew up in Bishop, California. He is most famous for the poem The Cowboy's Prayer. Hal Cannon was the first director of the Western Folklife Center in Elko, Nevada, and founder of the Elko Cowboy Poetry Gathering. He lives in Salt Lake City.
