When Billy Peltzer is given a small creature called a Mogwai by his father, he is unaware of the carnage he is about to encounter. There is a huge responsibility in looking after Gizmo as there are certain rules which must be followed. The Mogwai must be kept away from bright light, never made wet and never, ever be fed after midnight. When an accident occurs involving Gizmo and water, the next evolution stage of the Mogwai appears, and it isn't nice at all.

Story Synopsis:
When young Billy Peltzer (Galligan) takes possession of his cuddly new pet Gizmo, he is fully aware of the rules that must be observed-don’t ever get it wet, keep it away from bright light and no matter what… never, ever feed it after midnight. Gremlins are truly the most adorable creatures-resembling a cross between a Pomeranian and Yoda, but once they are fed after midnight, they multiply into diabolical monsters that wreak havoc across Billy’s idyllic town.
DVD Picture:
The picture quality in the component anamorphic mode sometimes exhibits slightly oversaturated color fidelity that is, at other times, rich and vibrant with natural fleshtones and deep, solid blacks. Images are generally sharp and detailed with excellent, but slightly brown, shadow delineation. The overall resolution of the film is excellent throughout. The letterbox and anamorphic aspect ratio measures 1.78:1.
Soundtrack:
The remixed Dolby® Digital soundtrack exhibits a nicely recorded music score with a terrific and expansive soundstage that wraps into the surrounds. The sound design effectively uses the split surround pallette for Gremlin sound effects. Dialogue is sometimes chesty or ADR-”manufactured,” but generally sounds spatially integrated. Overall, this is a well produced soundtrack that is sure to please with wonderful spatial qualities.
