Story Synopsis:
Kalifornia is a suspense-driven thriller about one writer’s compassionate attempt to understand the mind of a murderer. In an attempt to gather information for a novel he is writing, Brian Kessler (David Duchovny) and his girlfriend Carrie (Michelle Forbes) plan to visit murder sites on their way to California. In order to afford this journey, they advertise for two people to share expenses on the trip, but find more than driving companions when an ex-con (Brad Pitt) and his girlfriend (Juliette Lewis) answer their ad.
LaserDisc Picture:
The perfectly framed 2.35:1 picture has a soft focus and inconsistent flesh tones. Color balance is good as is shadow detail. Colors appear to be accurately rendered. and there are no glaring artifacts.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has excellent surround enhancements and envelopment with good stereo separation and natural dialogue.
