When her scientist ex-boyfriend discovers a portal to travel through time -- and brings back a 19th-century nobleman named Leopold to prove it -- a skeptical Kate reluctantly takes responsibility for showing Leopold the 21st century. The more time Kate spends with Leopold, the harder she falls for him. But if he doesn't return to his own time, his absence will forever alter history.

Story Synopsis:
Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman star in “Kate & Leopold,” a fish-out-of-water romantic fable about two strangers in New York City separated by over a hundred years. When a rip in time thrusts 19th century Leopold into present-day New York, the potential for an old-fashioned modern romance ignites with modern-day executive Kate (not without the typical century-bending humor that has been used time and again in similar movies like “Encino Man,” “The Visitors,” and “Blast From The Past”). Includes viewing options of the director’s cut and theatrical cut. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits a generally pleasing picture for both the theatrical and director’s cuts of the film. Colors are rich and vibrant, with deep blacks. At times, fleshtones appear overly red (but this is not referring to the warm hues which represent the 1800s scenes in the movie). Distractions are noticed in the way of pixelization, which gives the picture a “digital” appearance, and minor edge enhancement. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel audio features a very nicely recorded, richly textured music score that prominently fills the soundstage. The surrounds are aggressively engaged in this regard. Otherwise, the soundtrack is essentially dialogue-focused, and voices are reproduced with remarkable fidelity, if only sounding a little forward. The music also has a palpable deep bass presence, with distinction in terms of articulation and extension. There is subtle .1 LFE activity, as well as some sub-50 Hz content in the surrounds.
