Story Synopsis:
Lethal Weapon is the thrill packed story of two cops both of whom hate to work with partners. Gibson and Glover star as the wild-eyed, burnt-out Martin Riggs and the easygoing Roger Murtaugh. But their partnership becomes the key to their survival when, in the period of 48 hours, a routine murder investigation leads to an all-out war with an international heroine ring. You better duck quick, because this film fires fast action scenes like bullets, and you don’t want to miss a thing!
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD appears to be the same as the previously released DVD. While not reference quality, the picture is generally pleasing throughout. Some images are slightly soft, though overall the picture is sharp and nicely detailed. Contrast and shadow delineation are excellent. Minor artifacts and pixelization are apparent throughout.
Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel discrete soundtrack has been newly encoded at 448kbps from 24-bit masters. The DTS® Digital Surround soundtrack (at 1509 kbps) is very similar to the Dolby Digital with the exception of just a bit more depth in the low-end. The audio apparently has been sourced from an original multi-track master, with little in the way of split surround engagement and .1 LFE incorporation. The audio is dynamic and aggressive at times but also dated in fidelity. Dialogue is ADR-produced and sounds manufactured. This new soundtrack offering for this DVD won’t add much to what was already available.
