Hotels have changed considerably over the past sixty years as have management and licensing laws; many have changed their name or lost their license, closed or become private homes. Hotels were once a popular meeting place when life was slower; people gathered to sing around the piano, play cards or darts or just have a social drink and swap yarns. This is the story of seven hotels that I called home between the years 1923 and early 1950s. Some of these hotels have been rebuilt or changed so much structurally that I found it difficult to recognise them. Where possible I have researched the history of each hotel and early photos of the original building are included, as well as rough floor plans of the hotels as I remember them.
