The Flash has sent his costume and a taped message to the Central City police, announcing that he is retiring and the Ringmaster should take over as the hero of the city. At the same time, Barry Allen is broken-hearted because of his wife Iris leaving him for the Ringmaster.
But in reality, the Golden Glider is behind everything, controlling both the Ringmaster and Iris Allen in a bid to force Flash to retire. Using hypnosis, the Glider causes Barry to give a booby-trapped gift to Iris, seemingly destroying her. But the reflexes of the Flash enable him to save her, and realize that the Glider must have been behind everything. The Glider decides to draw out the Flash, where she and the mind-controlled Ringmaster team up against him, but he is able to escape their trap and capture them, with some help from the freed Iris.
