Waldemar Januszczak művészeti szakíró az impresszionisták forradalmi vívmányait kutatja. Utazása során Nyugat-India partjaitól eljut a haladó szellemű Párizsba és Dél-London kertvárosába, ahonnan az impresszionisták ihletet merítettek: a városokból, melyekben éltek. Megismerkedünk egy sor olyan technikai és gyakorlati újítással is ebből a korszakból, mely teljes egészében forradalmasította az impresszionista festészetet. Sorozatunk nemcsak Degas-t, Caillebotte-ot és a sorból gyakran kifelejtett impresszionista festőnőket mutatja be, hanem közelebbről szemügyre vesszük az impresszionizmus utolsó éveit. Ehhez kiindulópontnak azt a kiállítást tekintjük, amelyen ezek a művészek utoljára szerepeltek együtt, végül pedig ellátogatunk a párizsi Orangerie Múzeumba, ahol helyet kapott Monet végső mesterműve, a Vízililiomok.

Episode 1 - Gang of Four
Waldemar delves into the back stories of four of the most influential Impressionists - Pissarro, Monet, Renoir and Bazille - who together laid the foundations of the artistic movement.

Episode 2 - The Great Outdoors
Waldemar Januszczak takes us outdoors to some of well-known places in the impressionist world. Although Impressionist pictures often look sunny and relaxed, achieving this peaceful air was hard work.

Episode 3 - Painting the People
Waldemar Januszczak focuses on the people the impressionists painted and in particular the subjects of Degas, Caillebotte and the often forgotten Impressionist women artists.

Episode 4 - Final Flourish
Waldemar Januszczak takes a closer look at the late years of Impressionism, and discovers the ways in which the Impressionists were using the new discoveries in light and eyesight to influence their work.
