Az 1960-as és ´80-as évek között több ezer nigériai gyermeket adtak ´nevelésbe´ fehér munkásosztálybeli családokhoz Nagy-Britanniában. Ez a film egyikük igaz története.
Enitan kisgyermekként kerül a Carpenter családhoz. Nevelő anyjával sosem alakul ki az igazi szülő-gyermek kapcsolat, a fiú sem gyerekként sem tinédzserként nem találja helyét a világban, a környezetéből felé áradó harag és megvetés hatására pedig nem csak saját magát kezdi el gyűlölni, hanem minden embert. Amikor belép egy, a fehér faj felsőbbrendűségét hirdető skinhead csoportba, az élete gyökeres fordulatot vesz.
