A pár magánya
Gyermeke tragikus halálát követően a lerombolt lelkész felesége Prágába távozik. Hamarosan visszatér férjéhez egy ott megismert zenetanárral együtt.
Pastor Hubina (Mieczyslaw Voit) leads a harmonious life in faith, among his family and parishioners. He is respected by the faithful, they look with envy at his successful children and beautiful wife Edyta (Barbara Horawianka). However, she remains distant from the rural community and gradually drifts apart from her husband. The approaching temptation and bad fate are symbolized by a snake. Firstly, it appears in the grass, then it’s a wooden toy in the hands of their child, finally it’s a guest from the big world. As a result of a random accident, the pastor's son dies under the hooves of the horses. The pastor's wife goes to visit her sister in Prague, where she meets a pianist and reserve officer, Adalbert von Kschitzky (Ignacy Gogolewski). She brings him home as a music teacher for her daughter. They together discuss the varieties of love, loneliness, fidelity, bourgeois and Christian morality, the philosophy of temporality and eternity, German and Polish culture. The self-righteous guest gradually expresses his sympathy for Nietzsche's ideas, the politics of the Third Reich, and his attraction to sensuality. Edyta succumbs to him, so the pastor wants Adalbert to leave his house. The woman, seeing no return to her former life, decides to leave her husband. The priest remains alone, he lifts his eyes to the sky just like Job. The director, together with Tadeusz Rozewicz, adapted the Horrible Thursday at the Pastor's House short story by Karol Ludwik Koninski, a writer of the interwar period. This film has positive associations with Ingmar Bergman's films. A rendező Tadeusz Rozewiczcsal közösen adaptálta Karol Ludwik Koninski, a két világháború közötti író Szörnyű csütörtök a pásztorházban című novelláját. Ez a film pozitív asszociációkat kelt Ingmar Bergman filmjeivel kapcsolatban.
