Diane tries to take charge when Harrison household is infected with lice, but Kate feels bulldozed; Bert and Warren fight over a teddy bear.

Kate tries to play matchmaker to Diane and another parent, Russ Bradley Morrison, on Warren's field trip, but is shocked by what she learns in doing so.

Kate, Pete, Jackie and Diane try to piece together the events of Christmas Eve when they wake up, hung over, with the house in a disastrous state.

It's Pete's birthday, a day he insists is cursed. Kate struggles to prove that she's still the same young girl she used to be. Meanwhile Jackie and Diane try to return a set of wind chimes. Bert learns where meat comes from.

Kate asks Diane for help disciplining Warren and Hillary; Jackie and Pete try to set a good example during an outing with Bert.

When Bert loses a tooth and Pete misplaces it, his solution causes big problems with Jackie. Meanwhile, Kate channels her maternal nature and advises Warren during his first study date, and Diane helps Hillary host her first high school sleepover, which leaves Hillary feeling embarrassed.

Things get messy when Kate joins Jackie in her new school catering business, while Pete signs up Bert and Warren for karate lessons.

Kate and Pete throw Albert a birthday part when successfully reads 100 books. Warren forms a friendship on a boy Hilary is crushing on.

Pete and Kate decide to renew their vows, but they get more than they bargained for when Kate is found to be living in the country illegally. Jackie and Dianne are in parallel as they struggle to let their relationships go "public".

Pete agrees to let Kate plan a "do over" wedding when she has regrets about their elopement; Diane makes a decision about her relationship; Jackie struggles to tell Bert that she and Sad Steve are dating.

Kate tries to ignore the stress and chaos around her--which increases with the arrival of her mother and Pete's parents. As wedding planning continues, the family receives bad news.

Kate struggles when she takes over the PTA and ends up being faced with blackmail; a boy's parents forbid him from going to a school dance with Hillary.

Kate tries to help Warren improve his social life, but her efforts backfire; Hillary turns to Jackie for help with an art assignment; Pete teaches Bert about money's value.

Kate begrudgingly agrees to accompany Jackie to her high school reunion, not fully realizing all that it entails. Meanwhile, Pete and Diane take Hillary and Warren to visit a college campus and Bert is left in the care of Meg and Tevin.

Diane and Jackie agree to let the kids be with Kate on Mother's Day.
