Meet the Native Alaskans who, in a modern world, are trying to maintain their lifestyle, and live from the land as their people have for centuries past.

The Alaska Natives head out to harvest food by land and sea to provide for their families, and to teach their ways to the younger members..

The weather conditions are never friendly, so while some set out to trap winter animals for food, others build a garage to protect their vital four wheelers and snowmobiles from the elements.

Changing conditions and unpredictable weather patterns are forcing the Alaskans to adapt and change their hunter gatherer ways in order to survive.

Especially in winter, wood is important and trips to nearby beaches yield a bonanza of drift wood. The younger generation are taught Burbot fishing through the ice, and sled repairs are needed to go deer hunting.

With furs running low Jody sends Denali and Jamey on a hunting trip. Chris fashions a native tool for use on the boat.

Tig takes the boys hunting for beaver and Jody goes fishing with her family, as food stocks run low. With some recycled materials from the local dump, work progresses on Marvins greenhouse.

A Walrus hunt turns out to be more difficult than first appears, while another hunter looses a rabbit catch and goes home empty handed. Tree cutting lessons for the young ones and a successful Salmon catch.
