"Carry on Laughing" was a half-hour BBC television comedy series featuring several cast members from the over thirty low-budget Carry On movies. The first Carry On movie ("Carry On Sergeant") was released in 1958; the last ("Carry on Columbus") in 1992. The episodes of "Carry on Laughing" often spoofed historical events. "Orgy and Bess," for example, featured the relationship between Queen Elizabeth I (Hattie Jacques) and Sir Francis Drake (Sid James).
