An early example of literary nonsense, Alice's Adventures Under Ground is the original manuscript that inspired Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the story of a young girl in a fantasy world filled with peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. Alice's Adventures Under Ground was expanded from 15,500 words to 27,500 for Wonderland, adding most notably episodes about the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Tea-Party.
