In this seminal book Dr. Carrington, one of the world's foremost psychic researchers of his time, investigates the remarkable account of Sylvan Muldoon's out of body experiences. Muldoon gives not only a vivid account of his own astral projections, but special instructions to the student in the technique of projecting the astral body.

There are a large variety of belief systems and astral maps, but many share the belief that astral projection takes place via a subtle energy body which carries the consciousness outside of the physical body, but remains connected to it via a silver cord. In this book Carrington and Muldoon detail how consciousness is transferred into a secondary "energy" body (the etheric body) to allow travel into the astral planes.

In one of Muldoon's "superconscious" experiences, he found himself in a strange house, watching a young lady, who was sewing at the time. Six weeks later, he recognized this woman on the streets of the small Wisconsin town where he lived. Upon his approaching her, she was startled to discover he was able to accurately describe the inside of her home. She eventually became a very close friend of his and participated with him in a number of projection experiments.

This important book was the most detailed account to date of the phenomenon of out of body experiences, and created a sensation when it was first published in 1929.
