Issue #0
This is the story of the evolution and special attractions of Lake Taupo's Western Bay. Researched and photographed during the 1980s, then published over twenty-five years later, Tribute to Western Bay Lake Taupo is an unusual captured-in-time portrayal of the most captivating area of New Zealand's largest lake. Many Lake Taupo residents and visitors know Western Bay only for its great trout-fishing and boating. This story also pays tribute to the people of the hinterland - the first occupiers, Ngati Tuwharetoa Maori; the post-war pumice-land pioneers; the early adventurers, developers and conservationists - their tales, their legends and their legacies.
