Benjamin Justice
At thirty-two, much-respected journalist Benjamin Justice won the Pulitzer Prize, only to have it taken away for having invented sources. Now in his mid-forties, considered a disgrace in his former profession, HIV-positive, and once again single, Justice has begun to put his life back together. Then he is contacted by a friend asking him to look into the death of her fianc, a Los Angeles Times columnist killed in a mysterious hit-and-run. Reluctant at first, Justice soon finds himself in the midst of a complex case involving a decades old child murder, a powerful and controversial Cardinal, and elements from his own dark past.
