Reed Richards is not a normal child. In fact, his intellect is so far off the top of the charts that nobody knows how to relate to him on any level. When Willie Lumpkin, a government employee, sees Reed's science fair project on teleportation, he convinces Reed's loving mother and abusive father to relocate him to the Baxter Building, a local think tank.
