Peter Gail met 72-year-old Emma, a vibrant, healthy, old order Amish widow when he was gathering information for an article on home remedies. He offered to help her organize boxes containing scraps of paper with information she had saved for years to pass on to her children, and the result is Plain and Happy Living. According to Emma, "God put everything man needs into plants. If you use each plant as it comes into season, you'll stay healthy".
