Plot

Parnello Moran can read pictures like handwriting - he can tell instantly who painted anything. It's a gift that's helped him make quite a lot of money, until he buys a German Romantic landscape for a fraction of its true value, and finds himself promising a beautiful strange girl that he'll never sell it. When the picture is stolen from him Parnello has to get it back - for her sake - and finds himself involved in a conspiracy dating from 1944 and the German Wehrmacht's plot to overthrow Hitler.
