"SOS Green Lantern" - Hal Jordan is suddenly carried from his flightless test pod to a spacecraft in the desert. Inside, a dying alien named Abin Sur tells Hal Jordan of the Green Lanterns, their rings, and their power batteries. Hal has been selected as a Green Lantern to carry on the tradition.

"The Secret Of The Flaming Spear" - The Flaming Spear is an experimental aircraft, piloted by Frank Nichols as Hal Jordan was unavailable. The plane soon begins to fail, and Hal quickly leaves the company of the beautiful Carol Ferris in order to save the aircraft as Green Lantern. He discovers the aircraft was the victim of sabotage, and tracks down the saboteurs. When he returns to Ferris Air, he learns that Carl Ferris is leaving for two years, and Carol will be in charge during that time. Though she was interested in dating coworkers, she has neither the time nor inclination to date an employee, much to Hal's dismay.

"Menace of the Runaway Missile" - Hal is making no headway in forming a personal relationship with Carol Ferris. Rather than spending the evening with Hal, she's going to a celebrity ball, and Green Lantern is invited. Hal starts making progress via his alter ego when he spots a missile heading to ground. Unfortunately, the missile is yellow, which is troublesome for the power rings.
