Members of the Doom Patrol are doing some mundane shopping when they see Lex Luthor reporting that the Justice League have fled Earth after reports linked them to crimes and attacks! They don't know this is actually Superman, trapped in Lex's body, doing his best to implement Batman's plan to destroy the Justice League's reputation! Batman, trapped in the Penguin's body, devised this plan to ensure the public would not trust the League, whose bodies are controlled by their villainous enemies. The corroded public trust causes attacks on the Patrol, who must flee to their headquarters. All want to confront Luthor but the Chief forbids this, explaining that since the Justice League went bad, Luthors actions have been far better than expected. As if he, too, has experienced a moral inversion. The Chief has offered the Patrol's services to Luthor. Meanwhile, General Immortus and Garguax plan to acquire super-weapons from a cache Luthor possesses. They'll be able to destroy the "false" Justice League and thereby gain admission to the Injustice Society. The Doom Patrol meets Luthor and is uncivil; the meeting is interrupted when Luthor's assistant "lets slip" information about his secret super-weapons! It's part of Clark Kent's plan to trick the Doom Patrol into finding those weapons. General Immortus and Garguax find the weapons and Negative Man follows Garguax's beam, but is injured. The rest of the team then finds the satellite and battles their paired enemies. They're losing until Lex himself shows up and tips the scale. Villains defeated, "Lex" asks the Doom Patrol to keep his arsenal safe, just in case they should need it.
