Dr. Doom's vile experiments on the Asgardians lingering in his domain have brought war to his doorstep. His efforts to determine the nature of their immortality and power haven't been succesful in transforming him into a god, but that isn't to say they haven't yielded results. Not only has he reanimated their remains into perverse Doombots, dedicated to fighting their kin in his name, but with the energy provided by Kelda, he has animated his own design of Odin's Destroyer armor.
Thor battles Doom, while Balder makes a desperate effort to recover Kelda's heart. Loki is managing to keep her from death with his magic, but his spells won't help unless it's recovered. But while Doom and Loki's plans don't bear their ideal conclusion, both have something that they can be satisfied with.
