Een levensechte ontmoeting met de buitengewone wezens die op aarde heersten nadat de dinosauriërs waren uitgestorven. Zij zijn uiteindelijk de voorouders van de zoogdieren geworden. Na het verdwijnen van de dinosauriër waren de mammoet en de sabeltijger niet de enige zoogdieren op aarde. In de donkere wouden huisden vleesetende reuzenmieren, op uitgestrekte grasvlakten graasde het grootste landzoogdier dat ooit heeft geleefd - zo groot als een huis. En dan waren er de jagers: angstaanjagende roofvogels, groter dan een mens en wolfachtige zoogdieren met bijna één meter lange kaken waarmee ze botten kunnen vermalen. En de machtige sabeltandkatten, waarvan sommige soorten op onze eigen voorouders jaagden.Walking With Beasts is van de makers van de succesvolle serie Walking With Dinosaurs. In de landen waar Walking With Dinosaurs te zien was, kreeg het programma veel lovende kritieken en werden ongelofelijke kijkcijfers (naar schatting 400 miljoen kijkers) gehaald. Geen wonder dus dat de serie met tal van onderscheidingen werd bekroond, waaronder drie Emmy's en twee BAFTA's.
