In de nadagen van WO2 wordt tijdens een Nazi-experiment een zeer ongewone held geboren: Hellboy. Wetenschapper Dr. Broom redt Hellboy uit de handen van de Nazi's en leert hem zijn gaven te gebruiken om het kwaad te bestrijden. In Dr. Broom's uiterst geheime organisatie wordt Hellboy ingezet om hardhandig af te rekenen met het gevaarlijkste gespuis van de Aarde. Easter Eggs:
On Disc 1, you must first watch the Introduction before the following easter egg becomes available. After you are returned to the main menu, press up twice and you'll see an icon light up. Select it to see how Guillermo Del Toro apologises for the introduction and blames the cue card guy.---Still on Disc 1, go to the Special Features menu and highlight the Main Menu option at the bottom. Now press down, and you'll see another icon light up. Enjoy some quotes the director was overheard saying during production.---Finally on Disc 1 still, highlight the same Main Menu option at the bottom of the Special Features menu once again. Only this time press down twice, and the crown will be selected. It's DVD credits time.---On Disc 2, select the Kroenen's Lair option. In the next menu, select Animatics and on the following screen press down twice for another icon. You're treated to an alternative opening sequence in storyboard form.---Still on Disc 2 in the Kroenen's Lair menu, select Board-A-Matics. Press down twice yet again. This time you get a pre-vis scene as reward.---Finally, still from the Kroenen's Lair menu on Disc 2, select Storyboard Comparison. Once in this menu, press down twice again. You'll end up with a multi-angle film-to-storyboard comparison of the Ogdru Jahad hatching sequence.
