Macross Plus: The Movie

There have been many events over time with this title and finally we have been able to release this movie edition. I would like to personally thank all the people who sent us letters of support. When we were making the film my intentions were to make an anime that was appealing for both fans and the general public. I hope that you liked it.It's easy for me to say this now, but originally there were three plans that eventually created the one story: one was a story of good friends suddenly feeling immense hatred for each other and fighting to kill each other: the second was a slightly comical storyof two pilots racing to get to see their heroine's concert: and the third story encapsulated a world of high-tech gadgetry with a love story. And hence...As there is so much going on in so little time. I had difficulties including all three ideas into one story. For example, the fact that Guld was one half earthling and half Zentoradian, the triangle relationship and also Myung's background in detail. To me, the original plan combining to make one episode was the key point to the "Macross" atmosphere, so I pursued the idea.Shoji Kawamori. Director
