'Allo 'Allo!: De complete serie 1

During the occupation of France cafe owner René does business with corrupt German officers Kurt and Hans. Trouble starts when Resistance fighter Michelle smuggles two stranded Brits and French document forger Roger into the house.

Strohm wants to hand René and the painting of the Madonna over to the Gestapo, but René convinces him that it would be better to try to forge the painting, give the copy to the Gestapo and split the money from the sale of the original.

The airmen, wearing German uniforms, are captured by the Maquis but escape and burn the uniforms. Strohm and Geering, now without proper attire, are angry with René and he must order replacement uniforms from London.

Michelle deposits a bottle of nitroglycerin in the cafe until it is time to use it to blow up a German train. René and the two German officers hope for new uniforms but the plane from London brings a tailor who takes their measurements.

Von Strohm and Geering dread General von Klinkerhoffen's arrival and assist in blowing up his train. The General survives, René is identified as one of the saboteurs and is sentenced to be shot. Plans to free him misfire.

René's funeral is monitored by Flick who hopes to arrest Resistance members. René himself attends, posing as his twin brother. In the absence of a body Michelle hides some anti-tank mines in the coffin which is handled not very carefully.

The Resistance capture Strohm and Geering and order René to revenge his brother and kill them. They all escape and meet the British plane that delivers the forged painting. Flick gets the painting - but unfortunately it's the original.

Strohm and Geering have to find a way to switch the original and the forgery of the Madonna painting. A party in the cafe is supposed to help: The girls dancing in Hitler Youth uniforms definitely sidetrack Flick's attention.
