Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo

In the spring of 1942, some American pilots and crewmembers volunteer to go on a clandestine mission. Amongst them are General James Doolittle (Spencer Tracy) and Lt. Ted Lawson (Van Johnson), who had just been married Ellen Lawson (Phyllis Thaxter). They do not know until later that they will have to drop bombs on Japanese military complexes. Lawson and his wife must deal with being separated and with his dangerous mission. He and the others might have to sacrifice everything, not just their relationships. Lawson’s plane crashes near China and he will need to be rescued because of Japanese soldiers who might find him.
