Wonder Boys

At a university in Pittsburg, Grady Tripp (Michael Douglas) was once a celebrated professor and author. But unable to finish his next novel, losing his third wife and getting his department chair's wife pregnant, Grady is spiraling downward. From bad to worse, his agent, Terry Crabtree (Robert Downey, Jr.), shows up to collect the manuscript. Along the way, he adopts a wayward student, James Leer, (Tobey Maguire) who has a novel to publish. Grady struggles to do the right thing with his mistress, Sara Gaskell (Francis McDormand), his student and his agent as they bring unwelcome complications into his life, including marajuana that puts him into a stupor until things can sort themselves out and he can hopefully get his life on track.
