Based on the book by the same name, "The Last of the Mohicans" (1992), chronicles the downfall and death of a Native American tribe and their trials and tribulations through the French and Indian War. Hawkeye (Daniel Day-Lewis), a white man adopted into the tribe, is one of only three remaining men of the Mohican clan. Torn between the French and the British, the Mohicans want to side with neither and know they are bound to misery either way. While the Europeans duke it out on the battlefield, the only sure thing is that the Native American tribes will lose out. The Mohicans downfall, suffering, and subordinance to the growing European presence in North America is the key element of the film.
