Chase

Val Rogers (E. G. Marshall) controls his small Texas oil town with an iron-hand. Sheriff Calder (Marlon Brando) may be under his payroll, but not under his control. Rogers wants to protect his son Jake (James Fox) who is having an affair with Anna Reeves (Jane Fonda), the wife of escaped convict Charlie Bubber Reeves (Robert Redford). Reeves may be encouraging mob violence if Reeves is brought in, and Sheriff Calder may also be victim if he does not do what Rogers demands. Edwin Stewart (Robert Duvall) is also worried about meeting Reeves, and Ruby Calder (Angie Dickinson) is concerned about the safety of her husband.
