Jean Arthur (Molly J. Truesdale) is a working girl in Manhattan. One day she takes a bus trip of the west. On the way she meets handsome rodeo-star Duke Hudkins (John Wayne). Trapped in a tank town with him and his associate Waco (Charles Winninger), Jean Arthur is introduced to some new actions not referred to the tour guides, like gambling, drinking and fighting. Naturally, she wants to quickly return to the East but Duke has already fallen in love with her. Thus she is helped to forget her city suitors, Bob Hastings (Grant Withers), Gregg Stone (Hans Conried) and Malcolm Scott (Grady Sutton).
