Cinderella

Cinderella (Lesley Ann Warren) lives a miserable life with her cruel stepmother (Jo Van Fleet) and two homely stepsisters, Prunella (Pat Carroll) and Esmerelda (Barbara Ruick). While the stepmother promotes her daughters in society, poor Cinderella is left at home to work as a maid. One day while she's home alone, a handsome stranger (Stuart Damon) stops by asking for a glass of water which she graciously supplies.
Later the King (Walter Pidgeon) and Queen (Ginger Rogers) give a ball inviting everyone in the kingdom, because the handsome stranger was really their son, the prince, who wanted to find the lovely girl who had given him water. Naturally, Cinderella is forced to help her family with ball preparations and not allowed to go herself.
After the family leaves, Cinderella's fairy godmother (Celeste Holm) appears and gives Cinderella everything she needs to attend the ball with the stipulation that she has to return home by midnight. Cinderella goes to the ball and once again captivates the Prince. He’s devastated when she runs away from him leaving behind nothing but a slipper, so he sets out to find her.
