Retired and currently employed in the smooth field of industrial espionage, transporting a captured Russian spy, along with $2 million in Columbian drug money to East Berlin proves to be difficult for Sam Boyd (Gene Hackman). The Russian spy, Pyiotr Grushenko (Mikhail Baryshnikov) proves to be a unintended ally when they find out that both the CIA and the KGB want them dead.
