In 1968 the music group called The Doors toured a few key European cities and played their most famous hit tunes with lead singer Jim Morrison in his prime in documentary footage. Other members of the group fade into the background. Discussed by Grace Slick, Morrison is the central focus of the story as his life seems to parallel social change and rebellion, with the drug culture in full flower. Morrison is seen drunk often, trying to perform his songs and proving himself to be increasingly unreliable. Jim Morrison also gives many long surreal introductions to his own songs, including “Unknown Soldier” that features Morrison shot by a firing squad. Other footage includes scenes of Morrison’s grave while he sings.
