Capt. Cassidy (Cary Grant) is commander of a WWII submarine assigned to deliver a landing team to the shores of Japan in order to get information for the first air raid on Tokyo. In addition to meteorology expert Reserve Officer Raymond (John Ridgely), Executive Officer Andy (Warner Anderson), torpedomen Tommy Adams (Robert Hutton) & Wolf (John Garfield), Pharmacist's Mate Pills (William Prince), and the rest of the submarine's crew, Cassidy will depend on his skills and luck to achieve success.
