The Far Country

Jeff Webster (James Stewart) is self-involved and unattached. He never expects people to be good to him, but has a loyal right-hand man, Ben Tatum (Walter Brennan). Ben and Jeff find themselves in a town called Dawson with Ronda Castle (Ruth Roman), who is up to no good. Sheriff Gannon (John McIntire) is crooked and wants to take money away from people who have found gold and claimed it. The people want Jeff to be sheriff instead but Jeff doesn’t want the job. However, people keep getting killed because of Gannon’s ruthlessnes and Jeff realizes he must start caring about others.
