In het miljonairskwartier van San Francisco wordt miljardair, vrouwengek en kunstverzamelaar Kyle Madford beestachtig vermoord. In zijn kluis vindt de jonge assistent van de officier van justitie David Corelli interessante foto's van de gouverneur van Californië met het luxe hoertje Patrice Jacinto. Via Patrice komt Corelli op het spoor van de mysterieuze "Jade", een soort dure SM-maîtresse van de beau monde van San Franciso. Dat spoor leidt echter ook naar Trina Gavin, een oude vlam van David Corelli.
