Included in another eclectic mix of articles, Roger Elliott FBSAP uses a selection of postal history items from his own collection to give an account of the 11 interment camps set up during World War I in Australia and Tasmania, which held nearly 7000 civilian and military prisoners of war and postmaster Henry Bishop literally left his mark on improving the efficiency of the mail in Britain when he introduced the world’s first postmarks in 1661. Peter Chadwick gives an introduction to the different types of Bishop marks adopted, which continued in use for many years.
