Plot

Young Katie Miller and her new husband, Danies, leave their homeland in Germany (early 1800s) for America in search of free land and religious freedom. At the port of entrance to America, Katie is given a lemon from which she plants the seeds. Katie tenderly cares for small shoot until it grows too large for the house. The lemon tree becomes symbolic of her faith, which endures and grows. Katie came for a promise of freedom. She found room for a dream.
